Coffee And Tea

Coffee and tea, coffee and tea.
They only came for coffee and tea.
Though it may sound quite absurb,
No one spoke a solitary word.
They were as rude, as rude could be.
They only came for coffee and tea.
My wife and I put on quite a spread.
It nearly broke the bank
To keep all these people fed.
Just a smile, a kind word or two,
Would've been nice, after all we've been through.
Let them have a party. See if I care.
My wife might go, but you won't see me there.
Look at all that food going to waste.
What I wouldn't give for just a little taste.
Wish I'd been living, instead of dead,
Then, at least, I'd been fed.
Coffee and tea, coffee and tea.
They only came for coffee and tea.
